This position is GTA based but will require travel to client sites.

What You Will Be Working On

  • Forensic reviews of baseline and progress construction schedules & provide input to the project team.
  • Develop risk register & key contractual obligations from Contract review.
  • Review Prime Contract to determine obligations, liabilities and highlight risks.
  • Manage contract administration processes and results.
  • Provide interpretation of Prime Contract language.
  • Develop contract management activities to ensure compliance with the Prime Contract.
  • Manage contract reporting activities and identify and track deliverables.
  • Identify and mitigate/prevent/resolve problems involving high risk or high monetary cost to Bird.
  • Develop correspondence with Client as appropriate to request necessary changes and modifications to meet the project requirements.
  • Assist in negotiations concerning changes.
  • Ensure timely and accurate contractual correspondence.
  • Develop and implement Change Management procedures and track contract and subcontract changes/modifications.
  • Negotiate Change Orders, variations and change issues.
  • Prepare narratives and entitlement documentation.
  • Claims avoidance and management, including preparation of claims submissions.
  • Analyze bids from subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Negotiate subcontracts and purchase orders.
  • Manage subcontracts and purchase orders including resolving contractual issues, administration, reviewing change entitlement, and other duties required to support the successful administration of subcontracts and purchase orders.
  • Maintain excellent relationships clients, subcontractors, suppliers and the public.
  • Train staff on the implementation of contract processes and procedures and contractual requirements/obligations.
  • Liaise with project teams on a variety of matters as required. And provide to the District Management and Risk Management group a quarterly commercial management "best practices" report based on the performance of your responsibilities.
  • Develop and implement District and Companywide best processes and policies.
  • Present lunch and learn sessions to members of the district on key commercial management principles and lessons learned on a regular basis.
  • Conduct monthly review and reporting of potential claims and opportunities with Vice President & District Manager.
  • Review all surety and insurance.
  • Support project pursuit teams and estimating. and
  • Develop tender and RFP qualifications.
What We Are Looking for

  • Undergraduate degree or diploma in construction management or related field
  • 8+ years' leadership experience in the construction industry
  • A strong background in contract management
  • Ability to use MS Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Project and Primavera P
  • Excellent financial and numeracy management skills
  • Working knowledge of contract language and legal requirements of contracts
  • Ability to inspire trust in difficult situations by instilling confidence and engaging people on matters that affect them
  • Ability to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities. capable of handling pressure and challenges
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines and prioritization of work to achieve them
  • Strong project management, organizational and investigative
