Important Notices & Amendments:

This role will report to various locations within Niagara Region's Transportation Operations business unit and its primary focus will be to support Niagara Region's Urban Mowing program.

Temporary Duration:

Approximate Duration: 4-6 months

JOB SUMMARY:

Utilize manual labour, hand tools, power tools and/or small equipment such as a brush chipper and asphalt roller, including ride-on type rollers to assist in various road maintenance activities.

Operate vehicles up to 11,000 kg. Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) according to the Highway Traffic Act, Public Commercial Vehicle Act (PCVA), and Regional guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of 6 months to 1 year in a similar environment.
Certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid is an asset.

SKILLS:

Must possess a mechanical aptitude and knowledge of basic tools and equipment related to road maintenance activities.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS:

Must possess and maintain a valid and unrestricted class "G" license for the class of the vehicle operated
Must possess chainsaw and brush chipper certification.
Must complete WHMIS training.
