Based out of our Acheson Powell Service Division location, the Breaker Technician will report to the Field Service Supervisor.

The Breaker Technician will be responsible for providing remote technical assistance and hands-on troubleshooting, repairs, and testing of various low and medium voltage electrical distribution equipment.

Additionally, the Breaker Technician will also refurbish, rebuild, repair and test various types of circuit breakers, contactors and grounding devices while interpreting Powell electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and print drawings from the Powell Database.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide remote technical assistance and handson troubleshooting, repair, and testing of various low and medium voltage electrical distribution equipment.
  • Refurbish, rebuild, repair, & test various types of circuit breakers, contactors, grounding devices, and other electrical distribution equipment.
  • Provide remote technical assistance to internal and external customers
  • Maintain current Power DB Depot Repair database with detailed breaker test reports.
  • Provide safe and clean working environment.
  • Interpret Powell electrical schematics & wiring diagrams. Retrieve & print drawings from Powell database.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent
  • Years of Experience: Minimum of 2 Years in a similar role
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computer skills using Oracle, MS Outlook, Word & Excel
  • Demonstrate proficiency using Power DB.
  • Working knowledge with using the following test equipment: Hi-Potential Test Set, Insulation Resistance Test Set, DLRO, Multimeter, dial caliper, Time Travel Analyzer, Primary Secondary Injection Test Sets.
  • Must demonstrate working knowledge with the use of various hand tools and mechanical adaptability.
  • Must have verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have a current valid drivers license with a clean driving record.
  • Proficiency in problem solving is a preferred.
  • Willing to attend inhouse and outside training.

Working Conditions

  • Ability to travel locally and nationally, work overtime/weekends and respond to weekend and offhours service requests as required
  • Willingness and ability to travel 50% of the time

Physical Requirements

  • Be physically capable of lifting, carrying and moving up to 50lbs on a regular basis
  • Able to provide a negative preemployment drug and alcohol test
  • Able to bend at the waist, the legs at the knees, and extending arms and hands in any direction in a repetitive manner.
  • Maintaining body equilibrium and agility to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, ascending or descending stairs
