Work locations are generally in GTA, Road work inside Ontario.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Being able to exceed our customer expectations.
Operate mini excavator.

- installing GLB's.
- read construction drawing and locates.

Delegate tasks to Hydrovac operators, laborers and drillers. Repair or troubleshoot faulty cables, equipment.
Repair/install pedestal equipment, cabinets.
Working on buried plant, as well as in apartment buildings and confined spaces. Maintain and repair aerial and underground plant. Utilize appropriate tools to verify network is working properly.
Adhere to company and industry safety requirements.
Setting up and maintaining a safe working environment
Maintaining equipment and stock items in a clean, controlled and safe manner.

Requirements:

Construction background.
Good understanding of locates and construction drawings.
1 year telecommunication experience is an asset.
Minimum of 1year previous experience in underground construction position would be an asset.
Driving trailers and operating mini excavators is an asset.
Experience working with PVC and HDPE conduit is an asset.
Experience cable pulling.
Strong team player and ability to lead, selfmotivated, proactive thinker, flexible and adaptable.
Always oversee and help with keeping the sites safe and secure.

- willing to assist aerial crews on site when needed. Experience with using cable signal level meter, VOM, TDR, cable locator, signal leakage, OTDR, Optical power meters, fusion splicing equipment, network monitoring tools, etc. Able to core cable and install connectors. Able to splice fiber cables and trace fiber routes.

Valid Driver's License (Class G) and Clean Drivers Abstract
Able to lift and manage equipment up to 75 lbs.
Able to dig pits with hand tools (shovel, picks, rakes, etc.). Basic landscaping skills.
Fluent in English (written and spoken)

- outside cable plant maintenance: 1 year (preferred)
- construction experience: 1 year (preferred)
- mini excavator: 1 year (preferred)

Working Conditions:

Able to work in all weather conditions.
Able to work safely in public settings.
Able to work in proximity to moving vehicles and need to manage traffic flow from time to time (i.e., lane closures).
Physically fit for a construction role.
Able to climb, crouch, kneel. Be physically fit to do the job.
Willingness to travel, including overnight stays for outoftown work.
Able to work overtime and committing to the extra effort required from time to time to meet our customer's delivery requirements.

Education:

Minimum High school education is required.
Postsecondary education or trades school training in construction, mechanics, or equivalent would be a great asset. Past telecommunication courses and training would be an asset.
