REPORTS TO:
Supervisor, Family Education and Support Program

***: Delivers a range of services to strengthen the capacity of parents to support and promote healthy child development. Supports parents to address issues impacting their families and the optimal healthy development of their children.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Provide a range of services, which may include shortterm supportive individual counseling, group programs and community work, information and referral, and case advocacy for Macaulay program participants.
  • Develop and deliver innovative programs and projects that build parenting capacity.
  • Plan, develop and deliver programs and workshops to address factors affecting parenting in the context of the wider community and society.
  • Work actively with community partners to build strong and effective working relationships in high needs neighborhoods (residents and organizations) to identify and develop potential solutions to meet community needs.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with community agencies and organizations to facilitate effective access to programs, resources and services for children and families
  • Maintain accurate and complete program statistics and records and prepare reports as required

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent with five (5) years' experience providing parent support.
  • Member in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers & Social Service Workers of Ontario.
  • Demonstrated experience working with highrisk families, individuals and groups.
  • Experience in community development to empower individuals and families and facilitate positive change.
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of the social determinates of health, child development and issues impacting parenting.
  • Experience in planning, developing and delivering workshops and programs that address factors affecting the wellbeing of families and their children, including children with extra support needs.
  • Outstanding problem solving, conflict resolution and decisionmaking skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication and listening skills.
  • Computer literacy including proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective work partnerships with families, colleagues and service providers of diverse backgrounds, abilities and identities. Ability to communicate effectively in more than one language an important asset.
  • Excellent time management skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize.
  • Strong understanding of teamwork and independent practice with the ability to work effectively to contribute to high performing teams.
  • Ability to work all shifts, including day, evening and weekend hours.
  • Acceptable Vulnerable Sector Police Reference Check

SALARY:
Social Worker Salary Scale ($56, 065 - $62, 658) with Competitive Benefits Package (health & dental) and paid time off entitlements (starting at 20 vacation days & 3 float days)**:
