Description

Meridian Housing Foundation provides and manages housing for seniors in Stony Plain, Spruce Grove and Parkland County. We have an opening for a casual Kitchen Aide - Afternoons.

This position has 7 permanent shifts (4 pm to 9 pm) per month with the opportunity to pick up other shifts to provide employee coverage due to vacations and sick days.

Responsibilities:

Specific duties and responsibilities of this position shall include but not be limited to the following:

Cooking responsibility (evening meals)
Preparing and serving meals
Setting the dining room and clearing tables
Cleaning the kitchen and kitchen equipment, washing dishes, cleaning floors and maintaining a clean working area
Labelling and properly storing leftover food
Answering phone calls and resident calls as needed
Assisting residents needing help
Participating in the Health & Safety program, including maintaining and having a good understanding of safe work practices and safe operating practices, participating in hazard assessments and department recordkeeping
Refilling chemicals (for cleaning) as necessary
Documenting all necessary information in the communication binder
Completing general dietary and cleaning tasks to support department

Abilities, Skills, and Experience

Ability to endure frequent periods of walking, standing, kneeling, crouching, reaching with hands and arms
Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
Strong organization and timemanagement skills
Strong people and customer service skills, approachable and friendly demeanor
Effective listener, skilled at problemsolving
Observant, strong attention to detail
Ability to constantly improve and learn
Ability to work well with a team, as well as individually
Flexibility, enthusiasm and a positive attitude
High standard of hygiene and personal appearance
Desire to work with seniors
