About this role:

What will you be responsible for?

Reporting to the North American External Relations and Communications team, the Intern will support Newmont to advance its External Relations and Communications Strategy in North America.

This is a great opportunity for a student to gain first-hand knowledge on government, Indigenous and stakeholder relations, as well as communications at a global company.

Newmont has recently increased its presence in British Columbia with the purchase of the Red Chris and Brucejack mines and an interest in the Galore Creek project.

The intern's work will be heavily focused on the evolving mining landscape in the British Columbia and the central role of critical minerals, a key building block for the green economy


Your Will Consist of:

Here is a snapshot of what your day to day will look like:

  • Conduct research and analysis for the regional External Relations team (e.g., on relevant public policy, Indigenous relations, etc.).
  • Support stakeholder engagement activities (e.g., preparing meeting materials, logistics, minutetaking, etc.).
  • Support effective implementation of sustainability management software for stakeholder engagement tracking.
  • Help the regional team organize conferences and events, including managing Newmont branding, supporting logistics and preparing informational materials.
  • Support the management and posting of articles on the company's intranet, Discovery.
  • Maintain and ensure brand consistency across all communication materials.
  • Assist in the creation of digital design and video materials, including ads, digital signage, banners, posters, web and digital assets, branded templates, newsletters, flyers, infographics and other communications materials.
  • Manage translation requests with our vendors.
  • Provide site External Relations teams with additional needed support (e.g., data entry, communication materials, graphic design, social media, presentations, etc.).

Education:


  • Enrolled in an undergraduatelevel program, preferably but not necessarily in a related field (e.g., Communications or Public Relations).

Experience, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong information literacy and writing skills.
  • Strong ability to take initiative and ownership for projects, with good time management and interpersonal abilities.
