Regular Full-Time

Salary Range:
$67,772 - $84,714 per annum


Work Mode:
Hybrid (Minimum 1 day onsite weekly, which may increase based on operational requirements)


Location:10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton, ON


Hours of Work:35 hours per week


Overview:


The Transportation Operations team at the Region of Peel is responsible for managing and improving traffic flow, safety, and transportation infrastructure within Peel Region.

Our team focuses on a broad range of activities including traffic signal management, signage, road safety, implementation of traffic calming measures, and the coordination of construction projects to minimize their impact on traffic.


The role:

We are seeking a dedicated Technical Assistant to join our Traffic Safety team.

Reporting to the Traffic Safety Supervisor, you will be responsible for analyzing collision data and providing essential technical and administrative support to enhance our traffic safety initiatives.


In this role you will:


  • Provide technical and administrative support to the Supervisor and Technical Analysts by compiling information for studies, reports, and yearly programs.
  • Participate in Safety Audits through traffic studies, historical reviews, and field inventories.
  • Populate the accident report information into the collision database.
  • Maintain the TES database including road network changes and revisions.
  • Provide advice and guidance to other internal contacts.
  • Prepare and process requests for collision and statistical information.
  • Manage the regular downloading of collision reports from the MTO, quality control data to ensure all collisions data is accounted for and liaising with Peel Police and Ontario Provincial Police as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What the role requires:


  • Successful completion of a diploma in Transportation/Civil Engineering Technology with a minimum of 1year relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the HTA and other relevant legislation including, but not limited to TAC, OTM, OGDSM and HSM.
  • Valid class "G" driver's license (in good standing) and access to own transportation.
  • Strong public relations, communication, organizational, administration and problemsolving skills Information.
  • Highly advanced organizational skills to manage, analyze, process, track, maintain, update and generate reports on a very large collision data sets.
  • Provide technical data to other internal contacts.
  • Provide data and technical reports to external contacts.
  • Use of judgment to identify the most appropriate solution from all options using prior knowledge and experience.

Work Mode & Job Location:
In this role, you'll enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement.

This means you'll have the ability to work off-site and on-site as needed, depending on operational needs at the 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton worksite.

The frequency of on-site work may vary from week to week, depending on operational demands, which can evolve over time.

It's important to note that your off-site work location must be within the province of Ontario. This ensures that we're compliant with all regulations and policies.
