With a staff of 14,000, the Toronto Catholic is a dynamic school board and is seeking an Officer, Mechanical/Electrical Projects.
Our department is responsible for the stewardship of millions of dollars of construction that supports student learning and promotes student success.
We enhance learning and teaching environments for both students and staff at the TCDSB by upgrading the quality of all building systems and outdoor site conditions before they reach the end of their life cycles.
Through the improvement of building systems and school sites, the Asset Management and Renewal Department plays a pivotal role in elevating the quality of educational spaces at Toronto Catholic District School Board's elementary and secondary schools.
Many of our staff are licensed members of Professional Engineers Ontario and qualified Project Managers who strive to use their professional knowledge and experience daily to successfully execute over a hundred projects annually.
CRITERIA FOR AN INTERVIEW ARE AS FOLLOWS:
Minimum two-year college diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field.
Minimum of two (2) years of related experience in the installation of mechanical and/or electrical systems, construction administration and or project management
Knowledge of consultant and construction contracts and tendering procedures, change order management, financial reporting and tracking would be an asset.
Excellent written, verbal communication and organizational skills
Strong analytical, negotiation and problem-solving skills
Availability to work outside of core office hours, as required.
Experience with ERPs is an asset (e.g. SAP.).
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to and under the direction of the Supervisor of Electrical Projects, your primary function is to assist in the implementation of the mechanical and electrical Renewal Plan and related initiatives.
Providing support to Mechanical and Electrical Renewal projects, including procurement of consultants and contractors and reviewing of contract documents
Ongoing communications with all levels of the Board including school communities/ administrators, school superintendents, principals and senior staff, and other stakeholders as required
Acting as the backup of the Board's site representative on projects; tracking and monitoring project status including project financials
Assisting in the collection and processing of project completion data for building condition database and year-end financial reporting of renewal projects
Review design, construction and tender documents for procurement and contract administration
Liaising with the ICT Department to facilitate the needs of Life Safety, Communications and Security systems, including maintaining a log of IP addresses for automated building systems
Aid in monitoring financial status and controlling project schedules
Perform other duties as assigned or required
NOTE:
This position requires travelling to TCDSB sites on regular basis.
The incumbent must have their own vehicle available to use and a valid Ontario driver's license (eligibility for mileage reimbursement).
