Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must possess and maintain a valid full stage Manitoba Class 5 driver's licence
  • Must be able to travel within the province with occasional overnight stays

Qualifications:

Essential:


  • Postsecondary education in systems management, computer science, or a related discipline. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
  • Experience in providing administrative and operational support (to end users) with respect to software/hardware acquisition and configuration.
  • Experience in developing and delivering training programs.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize workloads and work on multiple concurrent assignments to meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to develop and maintain excellent relations with staff, clients and stakeholders.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office and associated collaboration tools (e.g. Teams, SharePoint) that support the creation, capture, storage and dissemination of information and solutions.

Desired:


  • Experience developing and/or updating polices & procedures.
  • Certificate and/or experience in project management.

Duties:


The Desktop Project Coordinator supports department business areas in development and implementation of ICT initiatives that create and maintain a high quality desktop computing and network information technology environment.


The Coordinator is expected to:

  • Assist business areas in exploring opportunities (e.g. leveraging enterprise solutions) for service alignment, innovation and transformation;
  • Facilitate and manage the relationship between government's central ICT agency and department project teams, and/or other stakeholders to support, maintain, and/or implement information technology systems; Understand the ICT needs of the department's business areas and provide recommendations for the best use of ICT investments;
  • Manage endtoend lifecycle of the departmental hardware & software assets (e.g., inventory, disposal, surplus), and develop project plans and implement recommendations for all hardware and software renewals;
  • Lead or participate in ICT infrastructure activities, help desk coordination and related projects (e.g., desktop renewal planning, hardware and software rollouts, software testing, printer renewal, and licence and software key management).
