    The Platforms and Engineering group comprises skilled professionals dedicated to enhancing Sun Life's technology solutions to help clients achieve financial security, live healthier lives, and engage with us. Join us in our journey to support clients and transform our business.

    We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to develop technical solutions for our Group Benefits Underwriting business unit. The role involves using advanced UI and Business Analytics technologies for a modernization project to enhance client experience. If you are a team player with strong technical skills and problem-solving abilities, read on.

    • Collaborate with Agile team members to develop high-quality applications
    • Participate in Agile ceremonies
    • Contribute to estimation, planning, and management of development tasks
    • Analyze and contribute to production discussions, designs, and decisions
    • Complete coding, testing, debugging, and implementation activities
    • Write unit and integration tests, and develop automation tools

    Requirements:

    • 5+ years of hands-on frontend and backend development experience, including JavaScript/ES6, HTML, CSS/SCSS, XML/JSON
    • Experience in building single page applications
    • Knowledge of web accessibility guidelines, tools, and technologies
    • Experience with PostgreSQL and SQLServer
    • Proficiency with DevOps tools (BitBucket, CDD, Jenkins)
    • Familiarity with SAFe Agile methodology

    Preferred Skills:

    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Focus on continuous improvement and reusability
    • Ability to create reusable components and identify re-use opportunities

    Special Requirements:

    • Occasional travel between Sun Life locations (Toronto, Waterloo) may be required
    • Periodic weekend/after-hours work may be necessary for project support
