Reporting to the Roll Shop Supervisor, this position's main focus will be to set up and operate a numerically controlled lathe to machine all types of new and used rolls to finished size and contour for all sections rolled in the mill.

What You Will Do

Carry out the machining of worn and new steel mill rolls in various materials including cast iron, toolsteel, and carbide, using two CNC roll turning lathes
Use profile templates to visually confirm results and identify nonconformities in the machined profiles. Skillful and methodical manipulation of the CNC and programming resources to overcome tool deflection and tool wear, to attain proper template fit.
Operate overhead crane to load and unload mill rolls from lathes.
Follow established routine procedures for the completion of all machining tasks.

Education/Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent general education.
General machinist license.
Minimum five years' experience in a conventional & CNC machining environment.
Must be able to read and understand CNC programs
Crane experience is desirable
Experience in manufacturing industry
Ability to work a rotating schedule (continental style schedule); 12hour shifts
Use a wide variety of tools and possess an eagerness to learn
Possesses strong communication skills, strong math ability and a good work ethic
