Job Number:49179**- 1 temporary full-time position for up to 4 months intended specifically for students currently enrolled in a geographic information system or related co-op or equivalent post-secondary work experience degree program, commencing April 2024_

The Facility and Land Inventory Management Unit provides real estate services to the corporation and the general public.

This includes activities ranging from the monitoring/managing of 9000 titled, city owned properties to the tracking / recording of the City's land and building inventory.

The Unit also provides real estate services that contribute to facilitating real estate development throughout the city.


Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Creating and maintaining spatial and attribute data sets
  • Assisting with ad hoc requests for GIS based mapping and analysis across the organization
  • Reviewing land related spreadsheet data and converting it into Esri layer with polygons
  • Automating various spreadsheets to GIS layers

Qualifications:


  • Currently enrolled in a geographic information systems (GIS), computer science program or related coop or equivalent postsecondary work experience degree program

Assets

  • Experience filing data in a structured GIS format to ensure proper organization of the data
  • Experience with AutoCAD and ArcGIS
  • Experience using or working knowledge of a scripting language (Python, ArcPy, JavaScript, Arcade, SQL)

Conditions of Employment:


Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday

The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time.

Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance.
