Description

This posting is to fill a two-year term, anticipatory perm position for the Manager, Communications position. Temporary assignments will be considered.


Reporting to the Director of Communications and Issues Management, this position leads a team of 5 communications professionals to deliver creative, effective and thoughtful communication on a wide variety of topics.

The communications team manages both time sensitive issues and strategic, proactive, long-term projects.

As the Manager of Communications, you will provide strategic communications advice and support on a variety of critical files such as the government's response to the Substance Use Health Emergency, strategize effective engagement strategies for stakeholders and partners on sensitive topics, and develop creative and engaging social marketing strategies to positively influence and support the health and wellbeing of Yukoners.

We are looking for a leader that thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. You will mentor and develop the team demonstrating a strong client focus. As the Manager you must have an eye for detail, a creative mind and be a natural problem solver.

Experience providing advice to senior management on communications matters and executing complex communications projects will allow you to thrive in this new role.


Essential Qualifications (what we're looking for in your resume):

  • Degree or diploma in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, Marketing, or a related field;
  • Experience briefing and/or providing advice to senior management;
  • Experience developing and/or implementing communications strategies.
  • Experience working with stakeholders and/or First Nations partners on communications initiatives.
  • Experience supervising staff would be considered an asset.

Additional Information
