About the Position:

The Dining Room Server is responsible for assisting in the preparation and serving of meals and providing catering services, ensures work areas are maintained in a safe and sanitary condition.

The Server will also assist in maintaining a safe and secure environment for residents, visitors and other staff members.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Prepares food for serving to residents and guests;
Ensures resident and guest satisfaction with meal service;
Responds to resident or family member concerns and ensures appropriate action is taken within decisionmaking authority and/or brings to the attention of the Executive Chef or Sous Chef;
Performs the setup, serving and tear down services at meal times and booked catering events;
Effectively communicates and interacts with residents, family members, visitors and volunteers in a courteous and professional manner. Projects an appropriate image and focuses on customer service excellence;
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Previous food services experience in a retirement residence, long term care residence or other hospitality environment, preferred
Food Handling Certificate necessary
Smart Serve Certificate is preferred;
Ability to clear Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS) is required;
Demonstrated empathy and understanding of the needs of seniors.
Previous cooking experience would be an asset
