As the _Clerk A - Pre-Authorized Clerk_
_ _you will**:

  • Entering the customer's banking information into Water and Waste's billing system.
  • Filing preauthorization documents for systematic control and ease of retrieval.
  • Review accounts for customer continued eligibility for preauthorized payment.
  • Process electronic bank payments, TelPay and preauthorized payments.
  • Produce and distribute reports.
  • Review severance processes and cancel events/processes as required.
  • Assist in reviewing turnoff orders for payment arrangements and technical ability to turn off water service.
  • Provide coverage to other positions in customer accounts as required.
  • Perform other related duties consistent with the classification as required.

Your education and qualifications include:


  • High School diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years' experience working in an office environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in an organized manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate and work on a personal computer at a basic level using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to type accurately at 40 wpm net.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate ideas and information effectively both verbally and in writing, to customers and internal staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to work accurately with numbers and compute accurate mathematical calculations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under mínimal supervision.
  • Ability to access, update and process information using Water and Waste Mainframe Billing System, the Royal Bank Pre-Authorized Payment and Bank Systems.
  • Ability to develop a working knowledge of Water Bylaw and Sewer Bylaw, Department policies and procedures related to payment processing.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization, external contacts and the public, in accordance with the Respectful Workplace Standard.
