Job Summary


The Supervisor, Railyard Logistics is responsible for reviewing Continuous Welded Rail (CWR) requirements, overseeing the Company's annual rail welding plan, spearheading Other Track Materials (OTM) and stick rail inventory, and supervising employees as well as operations at the Transcona rail yard facility.

The position collaborates with Supply Management, Suppliers, Engineering Supervisors and Managers, and Material Coordinators.


Main Responsibilities
Employee Supervision

  • Lead safety culture at the rail yard and with internal as well as external customers of the rail yard
  • Supervise unionized employees as needed
  • Control shift reporting and follow up paperwork
  • Cover other supervisor positions during vacations and absences
  • Oversee and develop Management and unionized workforce
  • Develop strategies that improve operating efficiencies, labour effectiveness, and team members' technical development
  • Spearhead Labour Relations (LR) processes including investigations, grievances, attendance management, and handling employee issues
  • Increase employee engagement
  • Build skills required to monitor performance and analyze data to reveal valuable business insights

Scheduling

  • Review and analyze Engineering Capital Planning System (ECPS) and schedule data
  • Compose and lead rail welding schedule
  • Prioritize shipping sequences to meet program schedules

Material Oversight

  • Track OTM material and stick rail flow through all stages, including requisition, order, shipment, and delivery
  • Intervene as required to ensure smooth material flow and escalate if necessary
  • Supervise inventory counts and _ad hoc_ inventory management

Operations Support

  • Engage and assist in times of accidents and storms as well as manpower shortages to protect the integrity of the system
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Working Conditions


The role is performed in a combination of office and outdoor environment in various types of weather conditions with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday.

Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure, and stress.


Requirements:


Experience
Construction

  • Minimum 2 years of construction experience
  • Minimum 2 years of project management experience or equivalent
  • Experience working in Systems, Applications and Products (SAP), Service Reliability System (SRS)

Education/Certification/Designation

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver's license

  • Demonstrated surveying knowledge and ability
