Responsibilities:


Location
1/33 Commerce Valley Dr. East, Markham, Ontario

  • This is an onsite role as the hiring team will require the student to work in the Markham office throughout the entire duration of the coop work term. COVID19 protocols are being strictly followed._

Program Term

  • This role is a 12month position
  • May 1, April 24, 2024

The Role

  • This position will be staffing our IT walkup center, Geek Street, which is where our internal customers can engage with IT specialists to have problems resolved and questions answered. This internship will allow you to obtain experience at a Fortune 500 company where you will be interfacing with a range of professionals in a corporate environment.

What you'll be doing

  • Provide first level triage support to inperson clients
  • Help set up devices or mobile accessories
  • Communicate status updates with internal clients
  • Ensure that requests are being prioritized and closed in a timely manner
  • Work alongside a senior Geek Street technician who can help with any escalations and can provide guidance to advance your knowledge with IT support

What you'll learn
-
An introduction to IT support: Troubleshooting, documenting, and validating solutions.
-
Computer skills in an enterprise environment: Getting exposure to common enterprise tools such as Active Directory and multifactor authentication. Learning to use ticket management tools to document issues or create requests.

Teamwork and customer service: Working with a team of other IT professionals in order to debug issues, implement creative solutions, and follow everything through to completion with customers and colleagues to ensure employee satisfaction.


Requirements:


  • Third year undergraduate student pursuing a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Technology Management, or a related field/discipline
  • Basic understanding of Windows troubleshooting
  • Android/iOS familiarity
  • Customeroriented mindset
  • Ability to take clear notes to capture problems correctly
  • A general understanding of MacOS would be helpful but is not required
