Position Overview


This position leads the effective performance of various Human Resources services, policies and programs for operations by providing partnership and consultation in areas including performance management, employee relations, succession planning, training and development, compensation management, benefits, payroll, organizational design, cultural assimilation and information management and reporting.

Identifies and implements the human resources programs that supports strategic goals and drives talent decisions by analyzing and presenting relevant data and trends for multiple countries and provinces.

Supervises a Human Resources team that may include Sr Managers and HR Professionals. This position reports into the VP, Human Resources.


Key Job Responsibilities:


Performance Management

  • Identifies improvements to existing policies, procedures, and programs to support the company's growth and business initiatives and creates communication plans for employees.
  • Ensures managers are coached on performance management processes such as performance reviews, ongoing development discussions, and performance improvement plans.
  • Counsels managers on how to set goals, provide constructive feedback and deliver effective performance evaluations.
  • Ensures annual performance review process is effective and efficient through calibration.
  • Conducts Talent Assessment workshops for employees and leaders and incorporates learning into ongoing discussions.
  • Communicates developmental trends that the corporate training function can assess.
  • Incorporates the Core Values into performance management.

Employee Relations

  • Partners with leaders to drive a positive employee relations strategy.
  • Educates managers on legal practices, acceptable workplace behaviors and appropriate counseling methods.
  • Ensures disciplinary decisions are legally compliant and consistent with company practices.
  • Participates in high level disciplinary discussions and terminations, as needed.
  • Oversee's team who conducts internal investigations and make recommendations based on findings.
  • Seeks out labor relations counsel with review/approval, when necessary.
  • Develops the strategy to effectively manage EEOC claims.
  • Represents organization at personnelrelated hearings and investigations. Works collaboratively with outside counsel on new labor laws that need to be incorporated into workforce management.
Recruitment and Selection

  • Partners with the Talent Acquisition team on status of openings and forecast.
  • Conducts annual succession planning and drives internal mobility and readiness for next role.
  • Oversees union hiring, if applicable.
  • Creates plan for a diverse workforce and leverages opportunities to for diversity in internal mobility.
Compensation and Benefits

  • Partners with Benefits department to identify and review annual benchmarking.
  • Partners with Payroll department to resolve issues.
  • Recommends process changes to corporate functions to solve for issues or barriers.
  • Supports field management on completion of job descriptions.
  • Coordinates with the corporate compensation function on FLSA status, compensation evaluation and new job description.
  • Presents final job description and compensation analysis to field management.
  • Coaches managers through workers' compensation and leaves of absence procedures.
  • Understands the analysis of workers' compensation injuries and partners with leaders and the Safety department to solve issues.
  • Makes salary recommendations based on performance and business salary structure. Provides immigration support.
Information Management and Reporting

  • Creates talent metrics to discuss with leaders to drive business decisions
  • Maintains records and compiles statistical reports concerning personnelrelated data.
  • Analyzes report content and makes recommendations regarding trends or information discovered.
  • Participates in HR special projects, as needed.
Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Human Resources or related field
  • 10 years progressive experience in Human Resources
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience
  • Proven ability to drive results without compromising ethics and quality.
  • Proven influencing skills with courage to confidently express an independent viewpoint.
  • Must perform successfully in a fastpaced, serviceoriented environment and to interpret rules and guidelines flexibly to enhance business while keeping in line with our core values.
  • Strong knowledge of employee laws, regulations and practices.
  • An excellent listener and communicator with an approachable style.
  • Strong PC and analytical skills
  • Excellent judgment and decisionmaking skills with the ability to deal with ambiguity and provide leadership to drive solutions.
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to come up with winwin solutions to complex problems.
  • Strong developer of people and cultivator of teamwork.
