Nuclear is a standalone global sector within SNC-Lavalin which represents approximately 10% of the overall Group revenue and 20% of the Group EBIT.

We are well positioned for growth around 3 Business Units :

Canada (Candu), USA and EMEA and across various business lines : Engineering & Consultancy, Field Services, USA Technology Services, USA and Canadian Tier 1 and a Global Reactor Vendor (Candu and SMR).

The VP, Finance, Candu Energy Inc. will oversee the day-to-day and quarter-to-quarter financials of theBusiness Unit (BU).

The role will be critical in the management and execution of the Nuclear Business Unit's financial reporting, Planning and Analysis.

Reporting directly to the SVP, Finance, Nuclear sector and indirectly to the EVP, Canada - as the head of the BU to whom he/she will be the key business partner in delivering growth and performance.

He/she will be working as a key member of the r Business Unit's leadership team, and will take a leadership role in building, implementing, and overseeing all of the Business Unit's systems, processes, workflows, and procedures and ensuring alignment with SNCL financial policies and procedures and sector governance.

The VP, Finance will also pay a critical role in helping to shape and guide the future growth and development of the Business Unit, along with providing leadership and direction, fostering a culture of development and performance.


Your role within the team
In the role of VP Finance, functions and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Ensure the financial integrity and strategy of the business.
  • Advise senior management on overall long
- and short-term strategic/financial issues & opportunities, including matters related to financial management, performance management strategies, revenue/market growth strategies, and organization structure.

  • Statutory Reporting (IFRS) of the BU and coordination with finance shared service centers and finance operation team.
  • Interface with taxation and treasury.
  • Responsible for interface with internal and external audit for the BU
  • Responsible for the Financial planning and performance reporting of the BU
  • Ensure the integrity and deployment of the BU financial systems and controls, and safeguard and control the associated records (new ERP to be implemented).
  • Support MBD and commercial in the pricing /costing of new project proposal
  • Actively participate to monthly/quarterly project reviews
  • Ensure the effective and efficient provision of Finance and set strategy for continuous improvement of policies, procedures, systems and staff capabilities.
  • Provide financial review, reporting, business decision support, business advice/strategies, financial modelling, negotiation support, billing, and routine project accounting activities for the BU.
  • Develop a robust business performance monitoring tools using the newly developed EPM system of SNCL (incl. ORB)
  • Plays a key role interfacing Business Development, Commercial and Project Controls function.
  • Lead major finance related initiatives that are directly related to achieving the strategies of the business unit with a long term focus.
  • Develop organizational leaders, succession plans and career development plans
  • Support Sector SVP finance in special projects.

  • Professional designation of CPA (CPA-CA would be an asset);
  • Minimum of 8 to 10 years of relevant professional experience;
  • Excellent knowledge of IFRS accounting standards;

  • Prior experience in project delivery is an asset
