Under supervision of the Principal Clerk, the Clerk B is responsible for providing effective customer service functions in three critical business areas in the Parks and Open Space division: athletic fields programming administration, 311 service request administration, and park bookings.

In these business areas the Clerk B will ensure requests are received, recorded, handled, and resolved wherever possible or forwarded appropriately.


As the
_Clerk B_
you will:

  • Receives service requests from 311 and ensures they are routed to the appropriate park area for resolution, including follow up and tracking all service requests for the division.
  • Update automated customer information and tracking system databases.
  • Maintain accurate records and files of written customer inquiries.
  • Manage call back queue and responds back to customer's request.
  • May be required to work evening/weekend hours in "emergent" situations.
  • Perform customer park bookings processes using existing recreation management software.
  • Ensure the accurate processing of cash, debit and credit card transactions, and assists in daily cash balancing procedures.
  • Provide general clerical support to the division, as needed.
  • Provide backup to other clerical staff in the division.
  • Perform other duties compatible with the classification.

Your education and qualifications include:


  • Senior 4 (Grade 12) education or G.E.D. (General Education Diploma)
  • Demonstrated ability to type accurately at 40 w.p.m. net.
  • Demonstrated proficiency (Basic) in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and adapt to process changes including new technology, and willingness to complete necessary software training.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in an organized manner and prioritize work to meet deadlines and established performance standards of productivity and quality.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain composure and deal tactfully and diplomatically with a wide range of customers in stressful situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and react resourcefully under difficult situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with the public in a courteous and efficient manner in person and over the phone.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under mínimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of policies and procedures relating to operations of Public Works Department.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization, external contacts and the public, in accordance with the Respectful Workplace Standard.

Conditions of employment:


  • The successful applicant must maintain legal eligibility to work in Canada. If the successful applicant possesses a work permit, it is their responsibility to ensure the permit remains valid.
  • Prior to commencement of employment, the successful applicant will be required to provide proof of COVID19 vaccination by providing a Government of Manitoba issued QR code and photo identification or providing proof of an exemption from the COVID19 vaccination approved by the Government of Manitoba.
