Salary Range: 9**We are working to create a digital experience that is accessible, culturally safe, inclusive and welcoming for everyone seeking the specialized health care services of the Provincial Health Services Authority.

As a manager on the Communications & Engagement team, you'll oversee our ecosystem of websites, in partnership with technical teams, and support the renewal of our websites in a new cloud-based Drupal environment.

You'll also oversee our intranet, which is the hub for more than 26,000 employees across the province.

What you'll do


Reporting to the Senior Director, Communications & Content Services, you will manage an ecosystem of websites including and all of its program and service websites as well as the employee intranet.


Together with a growing team of web content strategists, you'll ensure that website and intranet content is user-focused and aligned with organizational strategies and standards.

Your approach to content design will include user experience (UX) methodologies, web content development, information architecture, search engine optimization, plain language and WCAG accessibility best practices.


You'll thoughtfully balance the maintenance of our websites with the roadmap for renewal as we migrate to Drupal over the coming years.

This will require close collaboration with website sponsors, senior and executive leaders, and communications team members across programs, and the creation and implementation of new content governance processes and change management plans to ensure websites are supporting program goals.

You will also occasionally participate in a scheduled roster to help cover PHSA's after-hours website needs.


What you bring

Qualifications:


  • A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a university degree in communications, journalism or a related field.
  • 7+ years of communications experience in a large, multisite unionized environment. Previous experience with a public sector organization is an asset.
  • Education or experience related to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and Indigenousspecific antiracism, is a strong asset.
Skills & Knowledge

  • Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight Report (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), and Reclaiming Power and Place Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls calls for justice, and how they intersect across the health care system.
  • Supports team members on their learning journey, ensuring education strategy for team/department to implement Indigenous Cultural Safety at a practical level.
  • Works collaboratively with appropriate Indigenous teams/departments to ensure ICS lens applied holistically.
  • Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute website strategy, including content governance, user experience activities, analytics, WCAG accessibility standards. Experience with Drupal is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and execute strategic communication plans, and to respond to the needs of leaders, team members and partners in sensitive situations supported by acute awareness of the impact of actions.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of legislative policy development and processes of various levels of government, ability to meet tight deadlines, work under pressure, and handle highly confidential and sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and support team members with respect, compassion, and humility.
