Our Team:


Creighton Mine is an underground nickel, copper, and PGE mine located in Lively, Ontario, and is home to over 400 full-time employees, as well as the world-class science facility SNOLAB.

Producing at depths of over 8400 feet, we are one of the deepest nickel mines in the world.


The Opportunity:


We are currently seeking an
Underground Supervisor, Production to join our
Creighton Mine
Production and Development team in
Sudbury, Ontario.

This is a
permanent position.


As a
Underground Supervisor, Production you will continuously improve the work team performance through the effective use of established processes and procedures in achieving assigned objectives following Vale's Safety Policies, Programs, and Legislative Standards.


Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Work on a rotation schedule (5/4 schedule days and nights).
  • Ensure Zero Harm to employees, the business, the environment, and the community.
  • Achieve/exceed production quality and quantity targets while maximizing economic resources and recovery. Achieve total product and unit cost, and capital (as applicable) expenditure targets.
  • Perform injury management, working with employees and health care providers to successfully return the employee to work.
  • Identify and correct negative special cause circumstances that are within the authority level and escalate those that are the outside authority.
  • Manage overtime to within targets and distribute to crew members within the C.B.A. and provincial guidelines.
  • Coach and counsel employees on the standards of behaviour and take corrective actions as required, including discipline and grievance management.
  • Continuously improve the performance of the production frontline team through the effective use of established processes and procedures.
This includes ensuring the completion of assigned work with increasing consistency and accuracy by:


  • Assigning tasks, utilizing CPQQRT format, to team members so that work gets done in a safe and coordinated way.
  • Utilize the work practices under Work Management to approve, plan, schedule, and execute tasks within the area(s).
  • Assess assignments during the shift to ensure that schedules are being attained, and/or take corrective actions as required. Complete all production and/or maintenancerelated reports and work orders and communicates status to oncoming shift(s).

About You

Education**:

  • Grade 12 level education or GED equivalency is required.
  • First Line Underground Mine Supervisor Common Core or Common Core for First Line Production Supervisor Underground Hard Rock Mining is preferred.

Experience:


  • Minimum 3 years of leadership experience leading a team of Trackless Lateral Development miners (Jumbo, McLean Bolter, Boltec, Shotcrete, Trackless Haulage, Scoop, and Mine Services Advance).
  • Proficient at reading survey issue prints, being familiar with the various associated processes, proper end states, and start states.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Products.
  • Experience with SAP is considered an asset.

  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated skills in time management and in conflict management.
  • Ability to work in a highpaced environment with competing demands and priorities.
  • Ability to work with mínimal supervision and work well with others in a team environment.
  • Must be obsessed with safety and risk.
  • Must demonstrate open and transparent dialogue in all aspects of work.
  • Ability to establish relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
