We are currently searching for a HR Coordinator/Recruiter to join our Team in the British Columbia. This position reports to the Western Human Resources Manager and provides support to all Western Emterra facilities.

The HR Coordinator/Recruiter will be responsible for performing a wide range of projects to support divisional Supervisors, specifically in areas of recruitment and retention as well as day-to-day functional HR support.


What will you do?

  • Lead the full cycle recruitment initiatives for a designated client group with the expectation of:
  • Defining job specifications with hiring managers and co-ordinate external postings
  • Gather and screen applicant resumes, conduct prescreening interviews.
  • Perform preemployment testing requirements.
  • Prepare HRrelated documentation, including offer letters, orientation programs, etc.
  • Create and provide training on HR policies and new hire orientation.
  • Ensure the integrity of the recruitment process.
  • Source and attend local job fairs and facilitate hiring halls.
  • Participate in the development, communication, and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
  • Advise and assist departmental managers on the interpretation and administration of HR policies and programs.
  • Conduct research, data analysis, benchmarking, and prepare reports specific to HR processes.
  • Consult on issues related to employee relations, performance management, and other strategic initiatives with a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Facilitate formal communication and consultation processes with staff ensuring appropriate involvement of all stakeholders.
  • Audit activities to ensure compliance to set processes and standards.
  • Other related duties as may be assigned by the HR Manager
  • Investigate reported disciplinary incidents and liaise with Function Leaders and HR Manager on appropriate next steps.
  • Track, record and analyze data (discipline, attendance, grievances, complaints etc.)
  • Administer hourly attendance policy and provide guidance to supervisory personnel
  • Coordinate and lead orientation sessions for all employees (shared responsibility with TAS).
  • Regular travel to all BC sites to build relationships as support client groups.
  • Other related duties as may be assigned.

What will you bring?

  • Postsecondary diploma/degree in Human Resources
  • 13 years' experience in a Human Resources and Full Cycle Recruitment or related capacity
  • Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Ability to travel within local BC facilities (approximately 35%)
  • Openminded, enthusiastic, energetic, and possess a positive attitude.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing demands. Time management is crucial for success.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (advanced knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Experience in a unionized environment considered an asset.
  • Experience working in a waste management, transportation or manufacturing environment considered an asset.
