SUMMARY OF THE POSITION
The Life Skills Worker is part of a team supporting individuals who experience mental health and addictions issues to enable them to fulfill the goals identified in their individualized support plan.
Life Skills Workers provide support for individuals we serve in the areas of supportive counseling, crisis intervention and prevention, skills development (life skills, social skills, interpersonal and problem solving skills), vocational and leisure support.
This position is Monday to Friday and may require some flexibility based on the needs of the program.Benefits:

HOURS OF WORK
This position works forty (40) hours per week and is scheduled for 2 weeks of day shifts, 2 weeks of afternoon shifts.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of a relevant University Degree or College Health Sciences/Social Services Diploma.
- 12 years of experience in a community mental health setting working with adults with mental health and / or addictions concerns.
- Excellent organizational, oral and written skills.
- Demonstrated ability to respect rights and personal preference in treatment, rehabilitation and support including the Recovery Model.
- Building rapport, assessment, crisis deescalation, conflict management, professionalism.
- Certification in First Aid/CPR, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, and suicide risk assessment preferred.
- Proficient computer skills including MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and electronic record keeping and data collection systems.
- Must have a valid Ontario driver's license, relevant insurance and use of a reliable vehicle.
- Able to successfully complete and provide a current Police Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours to meet the needs of the individuals supported.
