Department Description:
Outpatient CNS
Reporting to the Manager, Clinical Neurological Sciences (CNS), the Ambulatory Clerk contributes to the organizational day to day support in an outpatient department by acting as the main communication link, supporting reception & patient registration, scheduling and booking of patient appointments, diagnostic testing, lab and patient care orderables, as well as supporting the interdisciplinary clinical team.

Rate of Pay:
$24.36 per hour - $26.36 per hour
Duration: 6 months
Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week
Qualifications:
- Successful completion of a Health Care Office Assistant Certificate or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by the Hospital
- Previous experience with patient registration and scheduling preferred
- Demonstrated proficient knowledge with Medical Terminology
- Previous experience in CNS preferred
- Proficiency in computer and keyboarding skills, i.e., Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Electronic Patient Record, Workload Measurement
- Demonstrated proficient communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Effective organizational skills involving time management, prioritization and the ability to problem solve while ensuring attention to detail
- Demonstrated flexibility, adaptability and ability to manage change in a dynamic environment
- Demonstrated ability to work well and independently with minimum supervision in a team environment
- Demonstrated proficiency with Health Records protocols and standards
- Demonstrated proficient communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Effective organizational skills involving time management, prioritization and the ability to problem solve
- Demonstrated flexibility, adaptability and ability to manage change in a dynamic environment
- Knowledge of public relations protocol and patient confidentiality
- Demonstrated ability to work well and independently with minimum supervision in a team environment
- Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to patient and family centered care
- Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
Immunization Requirements:
Before beginning employment at LHSC, all new hires will be required to:
- Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis;
- Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step);
- Provide proof of Health Canadaapproved COVID19 vaccination reflective of Ontario Health's current definition of being fully vaccinated
