Based in York Region, the Women's Centre of York Region (WCYR) provides education, counselling and skills development opportunities to support women from diverse communities as they strengthen and sustain their personal growth and economic independence.
Our services and programs are offered in an anti-racist, anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, women-centered environment.We are currently seeking a program part-time (10 hours per week) facilitator for the Financial Empowerment program for 1 year.
Financial Empowerment is a six-week women's group that teaches financial literacy.Women are empowered to take greater control of their personal finances and create a life of financial independence and stability.
Topics include learning to set a budget, lowering and managing expenses, repairing and using credit, managing debt and ways to save for future goals.
The facilitator will be teaching a 6-week financial literacy group program with 5-15 women in each group, planning and attending seminars, as well as providing individual coaching to women as needed.
Program Delivery:
- Design, develop, and deliver workshop curriculum/instructional material as required
- Provide clients with knowledge and tools to help them identify their skills, experiences, goals and financial needs through group facilitation.
- Provide oneonone support help women develop a plan of action with a set of recommendations for budgeting
- Create program and workshop flyers for promotion
Financial Seminars:
hour financial literacy workshops.
These workshops increase women's financial knowledge and provide the time and space to practice new skills regarding their personal and family finances.
Seminars are provided by the facilitator and/or in partnership with community organizations.Program administrative support:
- Input client data into data management system, keep accurate statistical and program participation records
- Evaluate program effectiveness and identify potential service gaps and emerging client needs by conducting regular client surveys through various modes of communication
- Contribute to writing proposals and reports relating to the Financial Empowerment Program as needed
Community Outreach:
- Promote Financial Empowerment program to other social service agencies in York Region
- Recruit program participants through advertising and flyer delivery
- Investigate and develop community partnerships for program delivery
- Arrange for and confirm facilities for workshop delivery
Skills & Qualifications:
- Social service worker diploma or related education/experience
- Experience working with women who experience socioeconomic barriers to success including genderbased violence, poverty, length in Canada, etc.,
- Experience with personal finance. Lived experience is welcomed.
- Experience with group facilitation both online and inperson

WCYR is open Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., this position may require working outside of office hours.
