Rate of Pay:
$ $26.16 per hour


Under the direct supervision of the Director of Care, the Behavioural Support Lead PSW will work in collaboration with the Behavioural Support Lead Facilitator to build knowledgeable care teams, and the implementation of evidence-based practices, research knowledge and expertise related to Behavioural Supports Ontario (BSO) into clinical practice within all care floors of Hogarth Riverview Manor.


Qualifications:

Education/Experience:


  • Current Personal Support Worker certificate from a recognized college program
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill working with individuals with various types of dementia, delirium, and mental health issues

Skills/Abilities:


  • Certification relevant to practice setting (ie Gerontology, Dementia), including training in Gentle Persuasive Approaches (GPA) and U-First is an asset
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) is an asset
  • Demonstrated familiarity with the Long-Term Care Homes Act and Regulations is an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as critical thinking and problemsolving abilities relative to the situation and scope of practice
  • Demonstrated commitment to client centered care
  • Ability to work as part of a team and also independently, with mínimal supervision
  • Demonstrated regular attendance at work

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Valid Driver's License, use of a reliable vehicle with adequate insurance and willingness to travel between Long Term Care Facilities in the Thunder Bay area
  • This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
