Job Summary:
The Superintendent is accountable for communicating with the Foreperson to help facilitate scheduling and coordinating employees, equipment, and resources in order to execute the schedule as outlined by the Project Manager.
Main Responsibilities:
The Superintendent is responsible for a variety of functions, including but not limited to:
Safety:
- Positively participate in and educate others on Goal Zero and CI team initiatives.
- Daily PSCs and weekly tailgate talks.
- Ensure safety incident, damaged equipment, & near miss reports are submitted.
- Incident investigation & corrective action creation and enforcement.
- Organizing applicable site orientations.
- NSC pre
- Promotes a physically and psychologically safe work environment for all employees.
Human Resources:
- Workforce planning in conjunction with the Project Manager for field personnel hiring, promotions, and raises.
- Employee relations coaching, disciplinary, & termination conversations. Support Forepersons in delivering where needed.
- Time card approvals.
- Support learning and development at a divisional level including: providing feedback, training new employees, and providing opportunities for learning.
Project/Construction Execution:
- Pre
- Keeping informed of the construction schedule, providing updates, and ensuring the construction schedule is met.
- Provide updates to Foreperson and crew regarding schedule changes.
- Support traffic control and personnel scheduling where required.
- Maintain contact with general contractors and subcontractors where applicable. Ensure quality customer service.

Knowledge & Certifications:
- 10 years of base experience, with 5 years in a Foreperson role.
- City of Edmonton road specifications
- Blueprint reading & comprehension
- English language: intermediate comprehension written & verbal
- Valid Class 5 driver's license
- First Aid
- WHMIS & RSTS
- Ground Disturbance Level 2
Working Conditions:
- Shift hours typically 12 hours/day Monday-Saturday (up to 16 hours/day). Seasonal role typically midApril to midNovember
- Weekends and nights required.
- Outdoors, inclement weather.
- Working in & around live traffic.
- Physical demands: shoveling, heavy lifting, concrete finishing, crouching, on feet for long hours.
- Exposures: noise, dust, fumes, and other Workplace Hazardous Materials
- Comply with Company D&A policy
