Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.


Position Overview:


  • Screens amputee consults within the province.
  • Coordinates and maintains flow of all amputee service clients in various stages of the rehab process from presurgery to discharge.
  • Coordinates program specific information and services between Manitoba's different communities, regional health authorities and provinces.
  • Navigates the resources available to facilitate timely and fiscally responsible service delivery, while maintaining equitable care to all clients.
  • Maintains ongoing communication between all amputee team members to facilitate effective clientcentered care.
  • Provides expert consultation and guidance to Physiotherapy staff in the area of specialty through clinical leadership, mentoring, education, evaluation and research.
  • Provides quality Physiotherapy Services including assessment, intervention, program planning and implementation, discharge planning and followup.
  • Contributes to the delivery of quality specialty Physiotherapy services by examining, developing, refining and evaluating the specialty body of knowledge and care practices.
  • Identifies "noncompliance to treatment standards" to manager.
  • Provides educational programs to students, other healthcare professionals and within the community.

Experience:


  • Minimum three years of recent, clinical experience of which one year must be in the specialty area (i.e., amputee patient populations, including experience in prosthetic management and gait training.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate):


  • Baccalaureate degree in Physiotherapy or approved equivalent, required.
  • Postgraduate degree in a a researchbased Physiotherapy related field or equivalent preferred.
  • Where required, has successfully completed the Physiotherapy Competency Exam.

SPECIAL TRAINING:


  • Successful completion of relevant professional education in designated areas required, for example, certification where applicable, continuing education courses, recognized expertise.
  • Wound care education/training preferred.
  • Knowledge of integrated hospital information systems, including a physiotherapy workload measurement system, would be an asset (i.e., APEX scheduler, Accuro, eHealth, Procura, EPR).

Certification/Licensure/Registration:


  • Licensed to practice Physiotherapy in the Province of Manitoba.
  • Current registration with the Canadian Physiotherapy Association required.
  • Current registration/participation with an appropriate specialty organization/interest group required where applicable.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with the Employer policy.

Qualifications and Skills:


  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrates leadership, coaching and mentoring abilities.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated expertise in adult education preferred.
  • Working knowledge of research/program evaluation methodology.
  • Ability to work with mínimal direction.
  • Ability to function within a computerized environment.

Physical Requirements:


  • Must hold a class 5 driver's license. Required to travel to other healthcare sites within city limits to evaluate clients to determine appropriateness for Amputee Rehab services.
