Telecon provides turnkey solutions for building, maintaining, and repairing underground, aerial, indoor and wireless telecommunication networks.

There are nearly 2,500 passionate Telecon employees who work across North America to provide the engineering design solutions, installation, construction, verification, and maintenance services for cabled and wireless networks.

Working under the supervision of the Foreman, the Lineman Trainee will assist in the installation of telecommunication cables and apparatuses to support the Expercom Civil Team.

Responsibilities

Assist with reading and interpreting work plans or job specifications to execute all work assigned safely and in accordance to Telecon's Health and Safety policy
Work outdoors in various conditions to place copper or fiber optic telecommunication cables
Assist linemen with set up/tear down of work sites
Safely load and unload vehicles with supplies and equipment as directed
Clean and maintain tools and equipment
Assist with recording and reporting project progress to the appropriate supervisory person and communicate any issues or expected delays
Other duties as required

Qualifications

High school diploma or relevant experience
Experience working in construction and utilities preferred
Holds a G license and working towards obtaining a DZ license (required to operate Expercom line vehicles within the G license class and operate a rubber tracked excavator)
Interest in progressing to a lineman an asset
Able to lift up to 80 lbs
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Good communication skills with the ability to work independently or in a team
Must be able to speak, read and write English
Demonstrated commitment to health and safety and willing to receive applicable Health and Safety training as per legislative and job requirements
Must have a G Driver's License or equivalent
Must be able to provide a clear criminal record check and a clean driver's abstract
