Position Summary

The Coordinator, Experiential Leadership, is responsible for the development of experiential leadership (leadership in-action) opportunities and campus involvement among students across all campuses of Centennial College.

Reporting to the Manager, Student Leadership and Skills Development Programs, Centennial Leadership Academy, the Coordinator will operationalize an experiential model for leadership programs with the support of campus (service areas, academic schools) and community partners, to build awareness and engagement with leadership programs.

The position acts as the lead for the Leadership Experience Program which includes designing and maintaining the online system, the awarding of a Certificate and the Distinction in Leadership co-credentials, as well as coaching students through a stepped-care service model to facilitate pathways to the Distinction in Leadership co-credential.


Responsibilities:


  • Conduct a needs analysis in order to recommend design and delivery strategies, identify program goals, objectives and learning outcomes for experiential leadership programming
  • Referencing leadership and student development theory, design and deliver experiential opportunities on leadership skills development as part of a comprehensive plan to foster leadership and career skills capacity among students at Centennial College.
  • Take the lead role in the evaluation and assessment of experiential leadership programs, linked to specific programmatic learning outcomes, in partnership with key stakeholders, other departments, and academic schools
  • Coordinate and support the integration and management of experiential leadership programs onto their associated databases (including Orbis and MS Teams)
  • Provide coaching and support to students as part of regularly scheduled office hours
  • In collaboration with colleagues across the Student Community and Engagement team, coordinate a comprehensive marketing plan for experiential leadership programs in efforts to increase student engagement and staff knowledge of the Centennial Leadership Academy
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Experience:


  • A 3year Diploma/Degree or equivalent in Education, Psychology, Life Skills Coaching, Social Work, Human Development
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in an educational setting, preferably in a post secondary institution
  • Demonstrated experience on training needs analysis, cocurricular program development, implementation and delivery.
  • Experience with the design and delivery of student leadership development and/or cocurricular programming.
  • Experience and demonstrated effectiveness in developing, implementing, and evaluating student programs (experience developing experiential learning programs as an asset)
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders internal and external to an organization to further the work and goals within a division/unit/institution.
  • Strong communication, group facilitation, and project management skills. Experience with operational planning processes an asset.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in designing programs, services, and events that are accessible and inclusive, and based on current research and data on student learning and development theories required.
  • Experience developing virtual programs and initiatives to meet the needs of students with limited access to campus services (e.g., commuter, graduate, evening, distance, etc.) an asset.
  • Experience incorporating commonly used technological tools and platforms, including social media and other digital communication and collaboration tools, into work critical. Experience with MS Teams and Orbis an asset.
