Nature and Scope


The Program Facilitator is accountable for the administration, coordination and facilitation of fire safety and prevention training for First Nations learners and communities across Saskatchewan.

This position will positively promote and create an environment that demonstrates SIIT's vision, mission, and mandate.


General Accountability


The Program Facilitator works collaboratively with the department and is accountable to manage the logistics involved in the various training, programs, and events held by the department.

The Program Facilitator plays a crucial role in educating children and communities on essential fire safety and prevention skills and is required to take a lead role in facilitating the Learn Not to Burn program.

As part of the delivery of this program, the incumbent will be required to wear a mascot costume. Travel is required to various communities across Saskatchewan.

This position provides additional support as required and includes the following broad range of accountabilities:


Specific Accountabilities

_ Coordination, Administration & Facilitation_

  • Coordinate event logistics such as materials, equipment (including A/V), onsite production, set up/take down, and other event requirements
  • Develop, prepare, and facilitate training, workshops and presentations for students, clients and stakeholders related to programs, supports and initiatives of the department
  • Coordinate with key stakeholders on eventrelated matters
  • Coordinate in finalizing all logistics for assigned events and projects
  • Attend and monitor events, programs, and training to ensure events are organized and run smoothly
  • Mitigate risks and issues that may arise before, during, and after the event/program/training
  • Research and negotiate venue contracts, locations and secure contracts for trainings and booking of appropriate spaces
  • Collect data on events, assess results and make recommendations for future project and program planning and delivery
  • Prepare program and promotional materials, according to SIIT guidelines, and distribute as required
  • Coordinate and track payments and invoices as required
  • Oversee registration for events; including processing, tracking, and followup as required
  • Extensive travel to various First Nation communities and events
  • Network, build relationships with and gather information from employers and industry stakeholders to inform the development of program content and service deliverables
  • Undertake activities that will help to ensure that program and service plans are aligned with emerging trends, comprehends the needs of key stakeholders and remains responsive to varied environments
  • Use appropriate methods of instruction, modeling, and coaching to facilitate learning
  • Create and maintain all courserelated records including evaluations and client attendance and registration
  • Recommend revisions and additions to program and training content

Relationship Management_**- Provide client and stakeholder services in a timely, efficient and tactful manner

  • Ensure a positive, diverse and inclusive work and learning environment
  • In collaboration with the Program Coordinator, develop contracts and budgets with outside parties for programs and services
  • Develop, promote and maintain positive working relationships with Bands, Industry, Tribal Councils, FSIN, funding institutions, and other institutes and partners, in order to meet community and educational needs
  • Network with outside agencies, including communitybased federal government departments, industry certifying bodies
  • Develop community contacts and negotiate training opportunities
  • Represent SIIT at communitybased events and meetings where required
  • Contribute to SIIT's strategic effectiveness by representing and participating on internal and external committees as required

Research & Reporting_**- Assist with the research as it relates to the improvement of projects, events, and initiatives

  • Assist with the development and implementation of program policies and procedures
  • Gather and share feedback regarding program or project improvements from training events
  • Demonstrate leadership and initiative in sharing research and outcomes with key internal and external contacts
  • Track project and program progress and ensure all activities are completed on time
