Job Overview
The Fraser River Tidal Marsh Clean-up Field Crew Lead will meaningfully contribute to the health of wetlands in B.C.
by supervising a crew of technicians in removing debris and garbage that has been deposited along the Fraser River tidal estuaries.
Working with a field crew, the headquarters team, Indigenous communities, landowners, and project partners, the Field Crew Supervisor will play a key role in leading and managing the day-to-day, planning safe field operations throughout the Lower Mainland.
Other duties and responsibilities may be added throughout the work term, based on project needs.Core Responsibilities Primary Duties and Responsibilities Will Include:
- Provide guidance, leadership and mentorship to field crew technicians and facilitate a positive workculture.
- Develop work plans and schedules for site cleanup with information from historic data and site visits.
- Remove debris and garbage from target areas in the Fraser River Estuaries.
- Follow data collection procedures to document the waste composition of the identified garbage and debris.
- Use ArcGIS field apps to collect and maintain accurate data on site progress, including spatial data outlining targeted areas.
- Coordinate procurement of field operations equipment and materials, and maintain all equipment as required and inventory records.
- Procure and coordinate contractors as required.
- Maintain regular communications with headquarters team and adhere to all safety protocols and checkin procedures.
- Ensure health and safety protocols are implemented and adhered to by Field Crew and respond to emergencies or incidents that may occur at work.
- Prepare technical reports and support the headquarters team with annual reports and grants documents.
- Engage with First Nations, landowners or property managers, students, project partners and public to promote collaboration efforts and understanding of wetlands, riparian areas, and floodplains.
- Perform other duties as directed by the FHREP Coordinator, the Director of Conservation Stewardship, and Aquatic Biologist.
