Kinnect Support Services is a social services partner that provides trained staff support to various organizations in need of relief staff.

The Role:
We are seeking highly skilled and motivated Social Service Workers, Developmental Support Workers or related discipline who have experience working with individuals with complex care needs.
Staff will be responsible for supporting young adults with developmental diagnosis and complex needs in a group home setting and in the community.
These needs can include physical and developmental needs, as well as mental health and behavioural challenges.Responsibilities:
- Participate in the implementation of individual support plans including handson care and daily living activities
- Provide behaviour and crisis management support for clients in the residence and community
- Promote community inclusion, independence and selfdeterminism for the individuals supported
- Support clients to identify, work towards and achieve their goals/personal outcomes.
- Encourage selfexpression of individuals supported and remain knowledgeable of verbal and nonverbal communications, including alternative communication systems and techniques.
- Utilize problemsolving skills to work collaboratively within a team
- Provide careful and accurate observation of clients, communicate any changes in needs of the client, and complete all required documentation and reports
- Encourage and assist clients to participate in social, educational, community and recreational activities to enhance their experience and quality of life
- Take an active role to ensure the home remains clean, tidy, and safe for the clients
- Support clients in direct personal care including feeding, bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting for some

You must have:

Completed university or college degree/diploma in Social Service Worker or Developmental Support Worker, or related discipline:

Valid Standard First Aid / CPR Certificate

Must have valid SMG training or willingness to obtain:
- A current Vulnerable Sector Check
within the last 6 months or willingness to obtain - Must have 1+ year experience working with Autism, Mental Health, Behavioral, and/or Developmental Disabilities, preferably in a residential setting
- Demonstrated understanding of the complex issues and challenges facing folks with special needs
- Have empathy and strengthsbased, relationshipbased approach.
- Sensitivity to and ability to work with diverse folks from all communities.
- Good communication skills verbal and written.
- Good administrative and computer skills, able to provide case notes and submit daily logs.
- Able to take initiative and work well as part of a team.
- Must be able to meet the physical demands (e.g., lifting, bending, sitting on the floor)
- Must have a reliable source of transportation

- Good oral and verbal communication skills
- English is essential.

Licence/Certification:
- Post Secondary Diploma/Degree in the Social Services Field? (required)
- Up to date immunizations, TB Test, and Covid Vaccination? (required)
- Employment Vulnerable Sector Check within the last 6 months? (required)
- SMG training? (required)
- Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Level C? (required)
