Property & Casualty Claims Representative - Summer Student

Job Description:


  • Provides support within the Claims unit as requested, which includes delivering mail and producing photocopies, and directs or responds to written or telephone inquiries, as required.
  • Manages information, which includes handling maintenance claims, verifying glass coverage, directing members to appropriate glass vendors, and processing rental car extensions.
  • Contacts the insurer to verify direct compensation and completes followup requirements.
  • Consults with Adjusters or the Claims Manager to review and discuss problem situations, as required.
  • Completes data entry and operational results based on established standards. This work includes entering document uploading, claim recoveries, salvage recoveries and reserves and maintaining the online service survey statistics.
  • Verifies policies and coverage on the computer system when receiving new claim reports.
  • Records and files new claim reports received in the new claims log and assigns appropriate claims experts based on the triage process.
  • Followsup on claims activities and tasks while maintaining a diary system.
  • Applies claims administration processes accurately and maintains data integrity by adhering to the contractual provisions of broker/carrier principles and regulators.
  • Facilitates information to claims experts by verifying instructions and dispatching appropriate documents and required reports.

Qualifications:


  • A minimum of three courses towards the CIP designation including Principles and Practices, Insurance on Property, and Automobile I.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the demonstrated ability to deal effectively with all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide outstanding service in an accurate and efficient manner and to resolve problems.
  • Superior time management and organizational skills to manage competing priorities, as well as project management skills.
  • Current Microsoft Office Suite working knowledge.
  • Exposure in a property and casualty insurance setting would be considered an asset.
  • Ability to learn and adapt in a fastpace environment including working with various computer programs, databases and software.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of collaborative team environment
  • The ability to communicate in French is considered an asset.
