Job Summary:
The Payroll Clerk assists in the process of making sure the company pays employees accurately and on-time.
This individual will comply with provincial and federal legislation, employee handbook guidelines, health and safety polices and ISO quality program and procedures.
Education and Experience
- Community college diploma in accounting or administration
- 35 years of Payroll Processing experience.
- Experience with job cost payroll and direct deposit an asset
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Capable of forecasting and solving problems
- Time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Ability to adapt and welcome change in a positive manner.
Job Requirements and Responsibilities
- Review on line time sheets, wage computation, and other information to detect and reconcile payroll discrepancies; collect and analyze payroll vs. job costing hours thru the payroll software job tracking component to resolve discrepancies to ERP database for approximately 250 employees.
- Daily review of approval of payroll data for time and pay codes, shifts, vacation, PPH, bereavement; communication with business unit managers to resolve such discrepancies.
- Maintain employee data in current payroll software (new hires, terminations, transfers)
- Compute wages and deductions and enter data into computer to upload net pay into direct deposit interface.
- Prepare weekly reports for employee pension contributions and prepare annual pension projection for FSCO
- Prepare payment requisitions for all government remittances withholdings (income tax, CPP, EI), EHT, WSIB), and garnishments.
- Process termination payments, prepare and file electronically ROEs with EI Office
- Prepare T4s and annual reconciliation for WSIB and EHT for Ministry of Finance
- Other duties as assigned.
