Videographer & Content CreatorThe DSU (Dalhousie Student Union) represents the collective voice of over 20,000 students in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
The DSU advocates for student rights, builds community on campus through events, supports over 300 societies, and provides focused services to foster a supportive and positive student experience.
Position Summary:
The Video Content Creator is responsible for working collaboratively and effectively with relevant staff and elected student representatives to brainstorm, create, and edit video-based content for the DSU Website and other Platforms.
This role will be expected to work independently to coordinate, and film short informational videos with each DSU Service or department.
Working under the direction of the Marketing and Design Manager, you'll put together content that will educate incoming students and our various audiences of what the DSU offers its members.
Key Accountabilities:
- Assume responsibility for the brainstorming and execution of videobased content outlining DSU Services and offices, as well as filming fall DSU Events.
- Attend weekly meetings with the Marketing & Design Manager to update on progress of content.
- Be onsite during fall events such as O-Week and DalFest (Happening between August 31st
- September 9th) to obtain and edit video content, for future use.
- Coordinate with DSU Services and Offices to create informative scripts that outline and introduces their respective service or office in an engaging way.
- Other duties as required.
Technical & Administrative Duties:
- Filming & photography with a DSLR Camera
- Editing & preparing video for use using Premiere Pro.
- Coordination with DSU Services/ offices/ departments
- Work collaboratively with Social Media Coordinator for any video or filming thatmay require multiple hands.
- Exceptional copy writing skills for video script writing.
- Volunteer recruitment for assistance in video filming / acting.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Must be a Dalhousie Student for the Fall 2024 Semester
- Experience with videography.
- Experience with photography and ability to use a DSLR camera.
- An outgoing personality and willingness to be on camera.
- Excellent communication skills
- Proven organisational skills, including the ability to set work priorities, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, plan output to meet deadlines, and work effectively within a dynamic and evolving work environment.
- Proficiency in video editing software such as Premiere Pro.
30 hours/week.
This position is dependent on Canada Summer Grant approval
This position also has the potential for ad hoc project opportunities throughout the fall winter terms.
