HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT

As a member of the Human Resources Team, the HR Assistant will provide effective and efficient Administrative and Clerical support to the Human Resources Department.

In this role, the incumbent will be responsible for day to day activities within the HR department including:


  • Assisting new employees through the hiring and onboarding process, ensuring all necessary documents are completed, and relevant information is received
  • Posting all new positions on recruitment platforms according to collective agreement language
  • Completing reference check process for all new potential hires at HPHA and community partner organizations
  • Processing correspondence, preparing employment confirmation letters, and maintaining files
  • Completing departmental pay cards
  • Scheduling interviews and meetings for members of the Human Resources team
  • Reception duties and special projects within the Human Resources Department

REPORTS TO:

Director, Human Resources and Environmental Services


QUALIFICATIONS:


Education:


  • College or University degree/diploma from a Human Resources program (completion or inprogress)

Experience:


  • A minimum of 1 year of Human Resources experience in a unionized environment preferred
Abilities:


  • Highly developed level of maturity as demonstrated by sound decisionmaking skills, excellent judgement and assessment skills
  • Strong command of the English language both written and verbal
  • Excellent keyboarding and computer skills

proficient in Word-processing, Spreadsheet and Graphics software packages

  • Ability to handle high workload volumes and prioritization
  • Highly developed ability to organize and prioritize within a fast paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to commit to a highly confidential environment.
  • Valid Ontario Driver's License with access to own vehicle
