Job Summary:


Under the supervision of the Head, Corporate Services, the Fleet Administrator is responsible for the management of all aspects of the fleet of vehicles, and the supervision of the Fleet and Facility Assistant.


  • Administer the operation of fleet vehicles by maintaining the Fleet Management System in recording the operating and maintenance costs, and the allocation of each vehicle
  • Manage the designated budget allotment for the operation and maintenance of the vehicles ensuring cost effectiveness
  • Implement and monitor a maintenance program that will ensure optimum mechanical operation of vehicles
  • Coordinate the repairs, service, and maintenance of vehicles as required
  • Coordinate vehicle licencing and registration by liaising with the Licensing Authority
  • Ensure vehicles are in compliance with provincial laws and regulations
  • Investigate transport policy violations and accidents, and advise the policy centre as well as Regional management by processing the required motor incident report forms
  • Perform other duties within Corporate Services as required, including assisting with shipping and receiving, and using special equipment that may require certification (e.g. forklift certification costs will be covered)
  • Supervise the Fleet and Facility Assistant and evaluate work performance

Education:


  • College diploma* and two (2) years of experience**:
  • High school diploma* and four (4) years of experience*
  • The educational program must be from an accredited learning institution recognized in Canada. If you completed a program outside of Canada, you will be required to obtain proof of a Canadian equivalency at your expense from an accredited learning institution recognized in Canada.

Note:
Any higher level of education could be recognized as experience.


Experience:

**Experience in the area of client services delivery and administrative support.

  • Experience creating and editing documents and spreadsheets for tracking purposes.
  • Experience in providing advice to employees and managers at all levels.
Asset

  • Experience in the field of fleet management.
  • Experience in a supervisory role.**:
  • Experience performing basic mechanical duties including battery replacement (training will be provided)
  • For this criterion, we are looking for experience related to the skills required to perform the functions, and not necessarily formal "supervisory" experience. Depending on the number of employees to be supervised, this may involve various degrees of experience in planning, coordination, control and leadership of human resources. These skills may have been acquired through both work-related and other experiences, including voluntary and other work experiences outside the Service, as a supervisor or not.

Conditions of Employment:


  • A valid and permanent full Canadian driver's license
  • Defined as a G Class (Ontario) or minimum of a Class 5 (remainder of Canada). Learner's and Novice licenses will not be accepted.
  • Lift, carry, push and/or pull a minimum of 30 kgs (67 lbs) and maintain the physical demands of the position
  • Work outside of core hours of work on occasion, sometimes on short notice
