Position Summary:

PCH is seeking a Volunteer Coordinator to support the Partners Community Health team.

The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing volunteer services that result in increased recognition, promotion, and enhancement of PCH's image in the community.

This position works in partnership with the Programs department to ensure coordination and alignment of services that positively impact the lives of residents.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Designs, maintains, and grows the volunteer program to encourage and support the participation of volunteers in the lives and activities of residents
  • Encourages and maintains high level of resident and family satisfaction through the use of volunteers
  • Provides leadership and direction to volunteers and monitors services provided to residents by community organizations
  • Undertakes the recruitment, orientation, and supervision of volunteers
  • Plans and organizes volunteers in collaboration with organizational and staff needs
  • Evaluates volunteer roles on an ongoing basis to assure appropriateness and effectiveness for both the volunteer and the facility
  • Develops and maintains a volunteer skill matching system to an updated organizational needs list
  • Develops and maintains an electronic database for the volunteer records
  • Develops and maintains policies and procedures as they relate to the volunteer program
  • Encourages volunteers through formal and informal recognition and coordinates annual volunteer appreciation events
  • Advertises any community volunteer opportunities
  • Liaises with community volunteer organizations for best practices and volunteer resources
  • Provides administration with regular reports on the volunteer program and initiatives
  • Performs other duties as required

Qualifications:


  • Postsecondary education from a University/College and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Volunteer management certification would be an asset
  • Previous experience working with volunteers or in a volunteer coordination role is an asset
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with the senior population/longterm care setting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and volunteer management software is desirable
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with volunteers, staff, and community members
