Job Description:


Reporting to the Manager, Test Services, the incumbent is the first point of contact for students and staff entering CAL Test Services.

This individual invigilates tests and exams for both new applicants and current students with disabilities.

The incumbent ensures Test Services is a quiet and safe environment. All disability-related accommodations are put into place in this setting by the Proctor. The incumbent ensures the set up and troubleshooting of individual tests and exams is carried out each day.

The incumbent will also provide selected administrative support for the Test Services Team Lead and Centre for Accessible Learning.


The CAL Test Services Proctor has a working knowledge of the CAL Database (Clockwork) and is required to support first time users in navigating the On-Line Test Booking System.


Duties and responsibilities:

  • The incumbent is responsible for providing comprehensive service and support to all examinees registered to receive services through the Test Centre or CAL Test Services. The incumbent must explain and clarify policy and procedure regarding tests and exams, often referring students and staff to other resources;
  • The incumbent must know testing policies and procedures to assist students in requesting tests and testing accommodations. The incumbent receives tests/exams from faculty across the college and follows up with academic departmental representatives when the test is not provided or the faculty member has not dropped the test off on time;
  • The incumbent ensures test/exam accommodations are provided and students receive all testing materials, alternative formats and appropriate assistive technology and/or software;
  • The incumbent is responsible for maintaining a calm and respectful testing environment;
  • This individual will act as a reader and or scribe when required;
  • Ensures students with disabilities have access to Assistive Technology (Dragon Naturally Speaking, Read and Write, Natural Reader, Kurzweil, ZoomText, JAWS) and computer support for tests and exams as required;
  • Ensures the setup and troubleshooting of tests and exams being written on a computer;
  • The incumbent utilizes Net Control software to upload tests/exams from the Proctor workstation to monitor students writing computerized tests and exams;
  • Provides administrative support to the Coordinator, Test Services and the Test Centre Operations Officer;
  • Scans tests and exams for alternative formatting;
  • Ensures protocol is followed when receiving exams from faculty and pickup of tests/exams;
  • The incumbent processes electronic grading of tests and exams.

Required Qualifications:

  • Two (2) year diploma in Office Administration or related field of study;
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in a Test Services facility in a postsecondary environment which includes the following:
  • Comprehensive experience in working with persons who have disabilities in an educational setting;-
  • Work experience in a complex detail-oriented, customer service driven, computerized office setting;-
  • Experience in Microsoft Office and/or certification in Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint;-
  • Office experience with a client database such as Clockwork

Anticipated Weekly Schedule:

  • Will be determined upon hire; shifts are scheduled between 8:00 am to 8:00 pm
