YOUTH/YOUNG ADULT NAVIGATORS

- FOR URBAN SERVICES (Winnipeg & Area)

- FOR COMMUNITY BASED TEAMS (First Nations & Rural)


The Youth/Young Adult Navigator is a contracted staff position to assist the Child and Family Services agency with the implementation of transitional planning services to prepare for a successful transition to independence.

DUTIES INCLUDE:


  • Guides and provides assistance to youth/young adults seeking access to voluntary services such as public health, mental health, disability services, education/career preparation, financial supports, cultural and family connection, resource navigation, assistance with housing and advocacy
  • Monitors and tracks progression for youth/young adults accessing services and the associated costs/funding

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Education and experience in the social services sector; minimum Grade 12 education with combination of education, training, and work experience
  • Ability to navigate and leverage various social services such as Housing, EIA to assist young adults in a good way
  • Working knowledge of CFS legislation and standards
  • Experience working with individuals and families from diverse backgrounds (cultural aspects, socially or financially disadvantaged, persons living with disabilities, etc.), who may face multiple barriers and challenges such as mental health concerns, addictions, and employment
  • Case management experience including conducting interviews, completing assessments, planning, and service coordination
  • Sensitivity to, and an understanding of the history of Indigenous peoples, the culture, and values
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention and current CPR or Emergency First Aid is an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve and mediate conflict
  • Knowledge and understanding of resources for supports and services in the community
  • Selfmotivated with the ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
  • Proven ability to prioritize workloads and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

SALARY:
Commensurate with experience and training and according to Provincial pay scale.
