Your opportunity:
The Building Information Modelling Coordinator will be an integral member of the Centre for the Sustainable Built Environment (CSBE) within the Department of Civil & Mineral Engineering.
They will work with faculty and students in the Centre to create new data on construction material use in buildings and cities, to maintain and build on the existing dataset and support incoming students to learn the skills and methods they need to create and work with the data.
The position provides support for collaboration with industry partners in collecting of confidential building drawings and the proper storing and processing of the drawings.
They will build REVIT BIMs (or equivalent software) and work with other material take off software as appropriate.The Building Information Modelling Coordinator will support the writing and publishing of academic papers and non-academic writing on research stemming from the data created.
They will follow, and support others in following, strict confidentiality and data control protocols.Your responsibilities will include:
- Coding quantitative research data on construction material use in buildings and cities
- Collecting experimental data on construction material use, verifying results and passing on findings
- Formatting data collected for presentations and reports (i.e. data on construction material use in buildings and cities)
- Maintaining information in Building Information Modelling software/databases
- Organizing data on construction material use into an analyzable format
- Providing detailed information on data analysis findings to Principal Investigator and stakeholders
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience
- Minimum one year related experience in building information modelling
- Demonstrated experience working with Revit or similar BIM software
- Demonstrated experience completing material quantity take offs
- Experience recording experiment results and organizing research data
- Intermediate computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure to meet multiple competing deadlines
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and the promotion of a respectful and collegial learning and working environment
