Winpak's location in Winnipeg, Manitoba is searching for a student who is currently enrolled in a Networking and Computer Technology program at a post-secondary level to fill the term position of:


IT Helpdesk Support - Summer Student


This position offers an opportunity to gain experience and to learn more about Management Information Systems (MIS) team and Information Technology for the manufacturing industry.

Under the direction of the Manager, Information Technology, the IT Helpdesk Support will support the user community with a high quality of service.


What You Will Do:


  • Provide first level support for end user computing problem including analyzing the problem, identifying the appropriate resources, testing proposed fixes, and following up to ensure the problem is resolved
  • Resolve support request using IT ticketing system and escalate when require and follow up on request
  • Setup and mange user account and assign access privileges
  • Maintaining an accurate inventory of enduser's equipment and software licenses
  • Monitor IT supplies inventory and notify when additional stock is needed (mouse, keyboard, docking station, headsets, etc.)
  • Create and maintain support documents and procedure within IT, and howto instructions for users
  • Support team with ongoing daily IT operations
  • Other duties and opportunities as assigned

Your Qualifications and Abilities:


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or IT related field
  • Comp TIA, Microsoft MCSE, MCITP System Administrator (Active Directory) or ITIL certification are an asset.
  • Experience with Active Directory, Domain Services, Windows 7/10/11 operating system, MS Outlook, MS 365, network (LAN/WAN) concepts, VPN, MFA, mobile devices, and printers
  • Experience with building and repairing computer hardware; and a working knowledge of past and current computer hardware technologies
  • Experience using an IT Service Management or ticketing system to manage Incidents and Service Requests.
  • Excellent customer service skills to understand the requirement and the need of the users utilizing oral and written communication skills as well as effective listening skills
  • Attention to details, problem solving, and time management skills
  • Strong team player with ability to self direct when necessary
  • Physical work/lifting is required, such as computer desktop computers and printers
