As the Transportation Manager, you lead transportation operations and the team responsible for day-to-day business activities, communications, and reporting.
You own the relationships with carriers and driving carrier network strategy, as well as being the primary contact for FSC and Canada Distribution Centre for transportation, projects, and strategies.
The Transportation Manager addresses transportation partner service failures and owns the transportation line P&L.WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Lead the transportation team that drives the day-to-day business activities, communications and reporting, which includes working a non-traditional work schedule to support the DCs during open shifts (on two time zones) and supporting peak volume periods; evening shifts and weekends Supervise the transportation network and industry trends to flag any potential risks and opportunities Partner and liaise with internal and external business partners to forecast and meet capacity needs, identify risks and opportunities and track plans for improvements Formulate and implement overall operations of the transportation network, including safety, compliance, and carrier network.
Responsible for transportation costs, service level agreements and performance metrics to identify and resolve problems to achieve efficiencies Own the transportation lines on the Logistics P&L, and drive cost saving initiatives through effective measurement and monitoring of results and costs Responsible for ensuring the transportation team is monitoring the right metrics and being used to report on drivers behind the numbers in finance close meetings Lead all aspects of the acquisition and oversight of transportation providers, competitive RFQs and New Store carrier sourcing Conduct regular check ins and business reviews with carriers to ensure carriers are meeting their contractual SLAs and action plans are in place as needed Accountable for driving excellent client service for our stores, and addressing any failures in a timely and methodical manner Find opportunities for continuous improvement initiatives to drive results and increase capacity and profitability During peak seasons, align on strategies to ensure volumes are managed within SLAs, and build plans to accommodate output Drive the development, implementation, cross training, and documentation of essential processes within your team WHAT YOU BRING:Strong leadership qualities to craft a vision and strategy that motivates the team Organization skills and an interest in managing your time and prioritizing tasks while maintaining quality and expectations Effective written and verbal communication skills, with honed presentation confidence to express expertise and point of
