Job Overview and Responsibilities:


Performs activities relating to quality control in the Forensic Equine Drug Testing department ensuring that operations are performed in compliance with applicable company and regulatory requirements.

Primary responsibilities include the following (but are not limited to):

  • Responsible for the QC program for the Forensic Equine Drug Testing department
  • Prepare the QC spiking solutions and QC samples
  • Check QC analytical results from the routine urine and blood screen batches on a regular basis
  • Perform investigations following QC failure and recording nonconformances as needed
  • Prepare a summary of nonconformances and recommend corrective and preventative action to laboratory management
  • Write monthly and annual QC reports
  • Responsible for logging in the Clients, Proficiency Testing and CPMA QAP samples into LIMS
  • Review equipment calibration, maintain records and temperature logs
  • Ensure that the reference standards drug collection is maintained
  • Assist the Official Chemists in the sample extraction, analysis and reporting of clients samples, Proficiency Testing and CPMA QAP samples
  • Help with the maintenance and running of the UHPLC/HRMS, LC/MS/MS and HPLC instruments, as required
  • Responsible for the writing new SOPs, WIs and making revisions to existing SOPs and WIs, as required
  • Assists the Manager to address QA internal audit findings
  • Participates in staff education programs including the presentation of inhouse workshops, QA and QC training for existing and new employees
  • Reviews periodically the Training records of the Forensic Equine Drug Testing department staff
  • Participates in Forensic Equine Drug Testing staff meetings and discusses findings and recommendations for resolving noncompliances
  • Identify, communicate and record nonconformances to Supervisor and provide input to corrective action procedures
  • Adhere to Bureau Veritas Code of Ethics Policy
  • Support and comply with all Bureau Veritas policies, Quality System and Health & Safety program
  • Participate, when requested in lab and health and safety meetings
  • Participate, when requested in internal and external audits
  • Keep work area clean, neat and organized
  • All other responsibilities as assigned

Is there a mutual fit? You ideally have:

  • A minimum of B.Sc. Degree in a chemical science or equivalent from a recognized academic institution and a minimum of one year of laboratory experience
  • Working knowledge of the operation of analytical instruments including HPLC, LC/MS/MS and LC/HRMS
  • Practical experience with the operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of LC/MS/MS and LC/HRMS instrumentation
  • Experience with instrument software packages such as Agilent Chemstation, Sciex OS, Thermo Fisher Xcalibur and TraceFinder, and Waters MassLynx
  • Competent in reviewing analytical procedures and practices
  • Experience working in an ISO 17025 environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Works with a high degree of accuracy
  • Positive outlook with an ability to work in a fastpaced environment
  • Good timemanagement, communication, multitasking and priority setting skills
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Experience:


  • Minimum Education: High School Diploma
  • 1 year of general maintenance or equivalent experience (preferred)

Schedule:


  • Monday to Friday
  • Willing to work overtime or be on call when necessary (including some weekends)
