Job Profile
Synergy Services Inc. is currently looking for a strategic and entrepreneurial-minded
_Controller_ to manage internal processes, analyze data, and provide strategic direction for
Synergy and related Companies. As a part of the
_Controller_ will become a leader in the organization and a trusted member of Management Team for this welcoming and successful agri-business operation.
Active Member of the Synergy Management Team:
- Acts as an advisor to the Management Team on finance, data management, and information technology as it relates to company strategy.
- Analyzes and presents monthly financial statements (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flows) for all Company businesses.
- Reviews and analyzes financial data as it relates to opportunities
Leads the Finance and Administrative Team:
- Recruiting, training, supervising, developing, motivating, and coaching team members.
- Oversees and is aAccountable for these teams' preparation of:
- Monthly financial statements (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flows).
- o All journal entries, including Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP)
- o Payroll and all benefit programs.
- o Annual working papers for external accountants for all company businesses.
- o All required reporting for banks. Monitors compliance with lending covenants as required.
- o Documentation for insurers. Evaluates insurance requirements and maintains insurance programs.
- o Documentation for all government programs. Ensures relevant programs are identified, evaluated and fully utilized.
Manages Finance and Administrative Processes and Results:
- Identifies and implements changes that improve the effectiveness and efficiency of processes related to finance, data management, and information technology.
- Company liaison with Bankers, Accountants, Insurers, and Government Administrators.
- Develops, implements, and monitors systems for reporting on operational and financial variances.
- Ensures appropriate internal controls are in place for Synergy financial systems.
- Oversees corporate tax planning and compliance in conjunction with external accountants.
- Has a good understanding of relevant government programs, including those specific to agriculture.
Key Qualifications:
- Postsecondary education in Accounting, Business or related discipline
- CPA preferred
- 10 years' experience in accounting
- Experience in ERP implementation
- Team player with excellent communication and attention to detail
- Excellent supervisory skills including mentoring, coaching, and leadership
- Selfstarter with the ability to multitask in a fastpaced and selfdirected environment
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Microsoft Excel and Office experience
- Experience within agribusiness industry considered an asset
