Role Summary
Reporting to the General Superintendent, the Superintendent is responsible to run the day-to-day operations on the construction site.

Responsible for scheduling, inspections, quality control, budgets and job site safety by maintaining daily reports that accurately tracks site progress and maintaining the highest safety standards.

Key Accountabilities

  • Demonstrates leadership in health and safety and environmental protection on the project.
  • Responsible for coordinating and managing sub-trades, suppliers and own construction teams.
  • Maintains and implements cost-effective solutions and project management techniques throughout project.
  • Responsible for coordinating all construction project activities and services across construction team.
  • Leads project meetings with internal and external stakeholders to monitor and support the project's ongoing progression, maintaining a daily log.
  • Supervises on site employees; ensures their work is planned and performed efficiently.
  • Understand the project plans/specifications to identify possible cost savings measures and potential construction problems.
  • Work directly with the Project Manager to oversee the project and collaborate to seek resolutions to any issues.
  • Develops, maintains and drives the construction schedule in conjunction with the project team.
Education & Experience

  • Requires 8+ years' experience as a Project Superintendent in the construction industry.
  • Proficient in Windows operating systems and associated software. (Excel/Project/Google Sheets/CAD a plus)
  • Any related education or degree program in construction science, construction management, building science or civil engineering, cost estimating, surveying, construction administration, and project scheduling an asset.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to ensure that projects are built according to approved plans, specifications, shop drawings, and applicable building codes and that quality standards are maintained.
  • Mentors project team members in order to contribute to their development and career growth.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, ability to motivate and lead by example.
  • Solid understanding of current construction practices; working knowledge of construction processes, documents, drawings, specifications and project management.
  • Ability to guide safe work practices in a high pressure environment while maintaining project quality, schedule and budget.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating & maintenance instructions and procedures manuals.
