Flair Airlines is currently seeking a permanent, full-time
Security Manager to join our growing and ever-changing organization.

The Security is responsible for all day-today security related duties and the full development, implementation, and management of the airline's Security Management System (SeMS).

In the absence of Senior Manager, Security, the position is responsible for leadership of the company's security team and is the designated Head of Security for the airline.


Primary Job Functions:


The duties of the
Security Manager include:


  • Lead/assist in the day-to-day security duties of receiving, reviewing, investigating and actioning security related SMS reports;
  • Lead/assist with internal/external investigations as required;
  • Creation and service of Pax warn/ban letters and related communication;
  • Create/maintain investigation files, trackers, stats and KPI's;
  • Create/maintain, audit and review security training programs;
  • Lead/assist in delivering of initial & recurrent training as needed;
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of the SeMS and the company Security Manual, including policies and procedures applicable to aviation, corporate, physical, personnel, and cyber security;
  • Ensure the airline's full compliance with applicable regulatory and industry security standards;
  • Ensure effective collaboration and consultation with commercial and operations teams in the development and implementation of security protocols;
  • Assist with managing the activities of the security team, including selection, training, professional development, and performance;
  • Ensure the effective implementation of security threat and risk assessment protocols;
  • Assist & contribute to riskbased reporting, investigation, mitigation, corrective action, and analysis of security incidents (criminal offences, regulatory contraventions, code of business conduct violations, security breaches, etc.);
  • Ensure the initiation of intelligence support and special security measures during periods of increased threat;
  • Assist and ensure ongoing processes for the control and protection of securitysensitive documents and information;
  • In the absence of Senior Manager, provide specialized advice to senior leadership on security matters impacting the airline;
  • Co-Chair the Operational Security Committee;
  • Senior Managers designate for all Airport Security Committee's;
  • Receive and facilitation of lawful requests for information and other assistance from law enforcement, regulatory, and other government agencies;
  • Assist with the development and delivery of security training to employees and agents involved in the implementation of security protocols, including effective collaboration with the Learning and Development team;
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of an organizationwide security awareness program;
  • Ensure the continuous improvement of security operations, including effective collaboration with other teams involved in the airline's quality assurance functions;
  • Instil a culture of security across the airline;
  • Develop and foster relationships with law enforcement agencies, Transport Canada, the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA), the United States Transportation Security Administration (TSA), and other security agencies to meet the business requirements and security needs of the airline in conjunction with all applicable municipal, provincial and federal regulations; and
  • Delegate responsibilities and assign duties to qualified members of the security team where appropriate.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree or Diploma in a related field;
  • Minimum five (5) years of security leadership experience and demonstrated ability to develop, coach and lead a team of security professionals;
  • Extensive knowledge of aviation security regulations, standards, and practices including those of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO);
  • Thorough understanding of Security Management Systems (SeMS);
  • Experience conducting investigations with a thorough knowledge of criminal, civil, and regulatory law related to security management and aviation security;
  • Experience leading teams involved in conducting investigations, inspections, and audits;
  • Ability to identify and evaluate individual and team performance objectives;
